The Catholic Church or Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith is yet to respond to invites to point out shortcomings in police investigations so far into the Easter Sunday attacks, said public security minister Tiran Alles.
He was speaking at the Nuwara Eliya district conference of his UPP party on 21 April.
Instead of pointing out what should be done, the cardinal and certain other priests keep on holding media briefings and levelling accusations against the government, said the minister.
He again invited them to study all the investigation reports submitted to them and support a progress in the probe.
Speaking further, Alles said the UPP would support the presidential candidate whose policies are similar to the policies of his party.
That candidate should also be able to revive the country, because a wrong decision will take the country back to the 2022 situation, he added.
