The party takes the final decision on holdings elections, said SLPP MP Namal Rajapaksa.
Any party could have persons who favour and are against holding elections, he said.
Speaking to the media following a religious event in Tangalle, Rajapaksa said that despite their personal opinions, all should support the party decision.
He went onto claim that a general election would portray the actual public opinion.
