Police teams including intelligence personnel are to be deployed in 15 prisons from 01 May to prevent imprisoned criminals from communicating with their gangs in the outside.
It has been found that 220 organized criminals, underworld leaders and drug traffickers presently behind bars are getting their followers to commit crime.
IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon has ordered the deployment of the teams as a preventive measure.
