The National People's Power (NPP) has decided to abstain at a vote on any proposal to parliament to hold a general election first.
A party spokesman said they were prepared to face any election, but would not support various political games by rival parties.
The government or the main opposition will move such a proposal not for the betterment of the country, but for their convenience only, added the spokesman.
