Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena is due to take up duties as governor of the southern province on 03 May.
He succeeds Willie Gamage, who has retired.
In Yapa’s place, former minister Nazeer Ahamed will be appointed as governor of the northwestern province, the president has decided.
