Malayalam actor Aparna P Nair, 33, was found dead in the bedroom of her house on Thursday evening.
The relatives of the actor have alleged foul play behind her death and have demanded a transparent probe.
Aparna was living at her husband’s, Sanjith, house at Puliyarathoppe near Thaliyal, Karamana.
Her husband and younger son were there at the house when she was found dead.
According to her sister Aishwarya, they were informed that she committed suicide by hanging using a sari.
“However, when I reached the house, she was lying on the bed with a portion of the sari strangled to her neck. Soon she was rushed to a private hospital, where she was declared dead,” said Aishwarya.
She said that she had no clue about the cause of her death.
Karamana police have begun a probe after registering a case under section 174 of CrPC for unnatural death.
“The investigation has just begun. The exact cause of death will be known only after post-mortem,” said police.
