A parliamentary select committee that looks into and identifies mechanisms to control and eradicate the drug menace has discussed preventive measures taken by the relevant authorities.

The PSC has met under the chairmanship of public security minister Tiran Alles.

Police, National Dangerous Drugs Control Board and the National Authority on Tobacco and Alcohol were summoned to discuss the measures taken to control the menace.

Alles said a committee headed by senior DIG Deshabandu Tennakoon will be in charge of controlling the drug menace.

The minister said proposals received by the PSC would be incorporated into a report to the Committee.
