President Ranil Wickremesinghe departed early this morning (17) on a tour of the UK and France.
The presidential entourage left by an Emirates Airlines flight at 3.30 am, said airport sources.
At the invitation of his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, president Wickremesinghe will attend the high-level panel discussion in Paris at the Global Leaders’ Summit for a new global financing pact.
The event is scheduled to take place at the Palais Brongniart in Paris on June 22 and 23.
The Summit is expected to shape a new financing ‘toolbox’ that will be rolled out through six high-level round-tables and 40 parallel events.
During his stay in France, he will also have meetings with members of the Paris Club to seek its support to resolve Sri Lanka’s debt issues.
