The court of appeal has been petitioned against the removal of some trade unions from the National Labour Advisory Council.

Labour minister Manusha Nanayakkara has dropped four out of 14 TUs from the NLAC that consists of representatives from the government, employees and TUs.

The case filed by the FTZ general services workers union will be taken up for hearing on June 20.

TU leader Anton Marcus accused the minister of removing them in order to change labour laws for his own benefit.

Meanwhile, the Ceylon mercantile union says it has been informed in writing by the labour secretary that the inclusion of the four TUs in the council again will be considered.
