A Vesak celebration in line with the state Vesak festival took place at Suhurupaya at Battaramulla from 02 to 05 May.
The Public Security Ministry organized it together with the Departments of Police, Registration of Persons and Immigration and Emigration, Dangerous Drugs Control Board and the NGOs National Secretariat.
The celebration comprised a blood donation, a sermon, an eye clinic, an eye and body donation agreement signing, ice-cream and gram Dansels and a Buddhist devotional song recital.
An illumination of the Suhurupaya premises and a Vesak lantern exhibition also took place.
Some of the events were opened by minister Tiran Alles.
A Parallel weeklong programme by the Dangerous Drugs Control Board raised awareness on drug and alcohol prevention.
