Anomaa Rajakaruna’s award-winning documentary ‘Our Mother, Grandmother, Prime Minister: Sirimavo’ will be screened at PVR Cinema at One Galle Face Mall from tomorrow (21).
Its English edition will be shown until 27 July and the Sinhala copy on July 28, from 6.30 pm.
‘Our Mother, Grandmother, Prime Minister: Sirimavo’ is the story of the first elected female head of government in modern history.
It is explored through casual conversations between her two daughters, childhood recollections and reminiscences of her two grandchildren captured for the first time in a recorded audio-visual engagement.
The documentary also includes personal accounts captured in conversation between two longstanding members of the Ceylon Administrative Service, who were part of her government.
It won the award for the best documentary in women filmmakers section at the 21st Dhaka International Film Festival in Bangladesh.
