CR and FC recorded a 33-27 victory over Navy SC in a first-round encounter of the inter-club league rugby tournament played at Longden Place yesterday (22).
The winners trailed 8-15 at half-time, but produced an improved performance after the turnaround and collected their points from two goals, two tries and three penalties.
The Navy SC recorded two goals, two tries and one penalty.
Ashan Darling and Thenuka Nanayakkara did the early scoring for CR and FC before Gemunu Chethiya and Marsheed Doray put them in front with a try each in the second half.
Chathura Seneviratne also contributed with three penalties and converted one try while Nanayakkara added the extra points to the second try.
For the Navy SC, Nirosh Perera, Harsha Maduranga, Dinesh de Silva and Lahiru Herath scored a try each.
Thilina Weerasinghe converted two tries and also put over a penalty for the visitors.
